Certified Nurse Educator (October 2014)

Background

As a nurse, I have worked in hospital and clinic settings. For 11 years of my nursing career, I worked as an occupational health nurse, providing care and promoting health and safety to employees in different work environments. I also received a certificate in ergonomics, which further helped my work in injury prevention in the workplace. No matter where I worked though, my love of teaching was always strong, both one on one with patients, as well as in larger groups and classroom settings. After completion of my MSN in 2005, I changed career paths and stepped into the role of staff education with a focus on patient safety in an acute care hospital. In September of 2009, I received a divine call to join Wisconsin Lutheran College as the second member of the faculty for the new nursing program. In July of 2015, I took over as Chair of the School of Nursing.

I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to teach at Wisconsin Lutheran College, to watch students grow in knowledge and skills and develop into professional nurses in a Christian academic environment. I have a passion for learning and I try to instill that in the students. My goal is to help students understand that the vocation of professional nursing centers on providing holistic care to patients.

My husband, Todd, and I live in Slinger and have three adult children and two sons-in-law. We are members at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford. In my spare time, I enjoy antiques, genealogy, and spending time up north on the lake.
